Good Governance and Sustainable Development

Abstract

Good governance and sustainable development are closely connected because long-term development requires institutions that are transparent, accountable, inclusive, effective, and responsive to public needs. Sustainable development seeks to balance economic progress, social inclusion, and environmental protection, while good governance provides institutional conditions for achieving these objectives. This paper examines nine major dimensions of good governance and sustainable development, including institutional accountability, transparency, participation, rule of law, effective public services, social inclusion, environmental governance, sustainable economic development, and contemporary challenges. The discussion emphasizes the importance of integrating governance principles with the Sustainable Development Goals and long-term public policy.
